An Interview with Sign Painter Extraordinaire
Today, we’re proud to release a talk from our design conference, Weapons of Mass Creation Festival 7, which happened this past August 2016, in sunny Cleveland, Ohio. This talk features sign painter and native Clevelander Sean Sean of Starr Studios. Sean is an American sign painter, graphic designer, and founder of Starr Studios. He became widely known for his work as a sign painter after the 2013 international release of the book and film “Sign Painters” which featured his work along with two dozen other sign painters around the United States. He has worked for a wide variety of companies including Gap, Sony Music, NBC Television, the 2010 Winter Olympics, Ocean Spray, Indian Motorcycles and the Mayor’s Office of San Francisco. He has also worked for a variety of celebrity clients including Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac, The Toadies, Gogol Bordello and Irish band The Cranberries.
Sean’s talk includes some background history of the trade, information about how sign painting is being used in modern design and answers to some of the questions he’s most frequently asked by other creatives.
