Design Tip of the Week: Use Simple Animation to Make a Jib-Jab Style Video of You and Your Bestie

My niece and nephew are obsessed with Jib Jab! They spend hours creating silly videos with our family playing the role of ice skating stars, hula dancers and Justin Bieber.

Making your own version is way more fun. Here is a PS quickie about how to make your own, featuring myself and my bestie, Corina. Enjoy!

Step 1:

Open Your Photos in PS. Click Window > Animation.

Step 2:

Next, hook yourself up with a black background.

Step 3:

Using the pen tool, Cut out your mouth, right click to make a selection. (Use the defaults, press ok)

Step 4:

Next, go to New > Layer Via Cut

Step 4:

Next, go to New > Layer Via Cut. Keep your bottom layer black or add something fun.

Now, repeated this process with the other subjects in your photo.

step-5

Step 5:

Use the layer icon to add your first frame. This should be the original photo you used. As you can see, the time length is set to 10 seconds. Change that if you wish.

Each time you add a new animation layer, turn your mouth layer on or off. Soon enough, you’ll have an entire series of talking heads! If you’d like to keep your animation simple like mine, simply highlight a couple of your animation layers and click that small animation layers icon on the bottom left hand side of your screen to duplicate.

Step 5:

To save your video, shift and select all of the frames, then file > export > render video.

You’re done!
